Favorite barbecue sauce on chicken wings and legs
My favorite barbecue sauce:
I have tried numerous recipes for barbecue sauce, but the one below is my favorite hands down. Use it for everything from ribs to sloppy joes. I guess with my Italian name you knew it was going to have garlic in it and, in my opinion, that is the secret to the delicious tangy taste.
Mushrooms:
I recommend that you also fry some mushrooms as a side with the barbecued chicken. Place 2 tablespoons of butter in a frying pan with 1 pound of button mushrooms and cook over high heat for about 10 minutes. Add one cup of dry red wine and allow to cook until the liquid is gone and the mushrooms begin to brown.

Ingredients (8 servings):
Barbecue sauce:
- 3 tablespoons – extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves – garlic, mined
- 2 ¼ cups – ketchup (I like Hunts brand)
- 3 tablespoons – soy sauce
- ¾ cup – chicken broth
- 6 tablespoons – dark brown sugar
- 4 ½ tablespoons – molasses
- 3 tablespoons – red-wine vinegar
- 5 pounds – chicken wings and legs
Preparation:
Place the oil in a frying pan over medium and heat. Add the garlic and cook for one minute. Add the ketchup, soy sauce, broth, brown sugar, molasses, and red-wine vinegar and cook for about 15 minutes stirring periodically. You will probably have some left over which can be used later if covered and refrigerated.

The sauce.
Meanwhile cook the wings and legs over medium heat on the grill until brown and done. Just before they are ready to be pulled off, brush the barbecue sauce on both sides to coat. Allow to cook a few more minutes (don’t let the sauce burn on the chicken). Remove and serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side. Enjoy.
